Merge PDF files
Combine several PDFs into one document, in the order you choose.
Your files never leave your device
Drop PDF files here
Or drag them anywhere on this page.
Opened on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
Up to 50 files, 200 MB each. Very large merges are limited by your device's memory. Password-protected PDFs can't be merged.
How to merge PDF files
- Choose your PDF files, or drag them onto the page.
- Put them in order with the up and down arrows. Remove any you don't need.
- Press Merge PDFs, then download the combined file.
Merging PDFs without uploading them
A PDF merge doesn't need a server. Each page in a PDF is a self-contained description of text, images and drawing commands, so combining files means copying those page objects into a new document and writing a fresh index. Your browser can do that directly with the files on your device.
The pages are copied, not re-rendered, so the merged file has the same quality as the originals: text stays selectable and searchable, and images are not recompressed. The new document gets one page list in the order you set here.
Tips
- Need only some pages from a file? Run it through Extract pages first, or remove pages after merging with Remove pages.
- Merging photos or scans? Turn them into a PDF with JPG to PDF, then merge.
Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge runs in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library. The files are read from your device and the result is created on your device; nothing is sent to a server.
Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
You can add up to 50 files of up to 200 MB each. The real limit is your device's memory: merging a few hundred megabytes works on most computers, less on older phones.
Will the merged PDF keep links, bookmarks and form fields?
Page content, links on the page and annotations are kept. The document outline (bookmarks) of the source files is not carried over, and fillable form fields may come through as flat, non-editable content.
Why can't I merge a password-protected PDF?
Encrypted files can't be read without the password, and this tool doesn't remove protection. Open the file in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, then merge that.
Does it add a watermark or reduce quality?
No watermark and no recompression. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.
