What web search APIs cost over x402

An agent can search the web by the call over x402 and get back a list of results. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 123 distinct priced web search offers on 92 hosts, the median is USD 0.01 per search, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.25. Tanod charges USD 0.012 per search, so Tanod is above the median: 87 listings are lower, 3 are the same and 33 are higher. These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints, and they differ in index, result count and what they return (see below).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of result quality, freshness or uptime. The listings are not like for like. Many resell a known provider (Brave, Exa, Tavily, Serper or Google results) and say so; some merge several engines; some return page text next to each result; a few cap results per call and others allow more. Tanod is above the median here: 0.012 against 0.01.

Method

Where Tanod fits

POST /v1/search takes a query (up to 512 characters) and returns ranked results with title, URL and snippet from one independent index (Mojeek). Optional fields are count (1 to 10, default 10), country (a two-letter region boost) and freshness (day, week, month or year). It returns snippets only: no page text, no written answer, and no news, image or video search. Results are third-party web text and are marked as untrusted. It costs USD 0.012 per call, paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402, and 3 free searches per IP per UTC day, a pool of their own. The MCP tool is web_search at https://tanod.dev/mcp.
