What web page to Markdown APIs cost over x402
Snapshot 2026-10-10
An agent can fetch a public URL and get the page back as Markdown or clean text by the call over x402. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 203 distinct priced page-to-Markdown offers on 175 hosts, the median is USD 0.005 per page, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.1. Tanod charges USD 0.005 for a static fetch, the same as the median (67 listings are lower, 55 the same, 81 higher), and USD 0.01 when the page is rendered with JavaScript, which is above the median (129 listings are lower, 42 the same, 32 higher). These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints, and they differ in rendering, size limits and output (see below).
Median listed x402 price for web page to Markdown: USD 0.005 per call across 203 offers on 175 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-10). Tanod: USD 0.005 for a static fetch (the same as the median) and USD 0.01 with JavaScript rendering (above the median).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of extraction quality, speed or uptime. The listings are not like for like. About 57 of the 203 mention JavaScript, a headless browser or rendering in their text (a keyword count we did not verify); their median is also USD 0.005, and 32 of them list under USD 0.01. Others fetch static HTML only, and some add metadata, links, structured fields or bot-wall handling. Listings do not state a rendering price separately, so the comparison for JavaScript pages is rough.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the x402 Bazaar and PayAI, queried 2026-10-10 (newest listing seen 2026-10-09T04:31:37Z). Internal-only sources, Circle-sourced rows and Tanod's own routes are not used.
- Match: listings with a price above zero whose name, URL or description mentions Markdown, clean or readable text, scraping, page or article extraction or a reader route. Bulk listing farms were left out. That returned about 800 distinct URLs; plainly unrelated ones (for example PDF-only, image, audio, social-network and e-mail routes) were set aside by keyword, and the rest were reviewed one by one by name and description. Only endpoints that take one URL, fetch it and return the page as Markdown or clean text were kept: 203 offers on 175 hosts.
- Excluded: converters that take HTML or a document you already have; routes that return only structured JSON fields, metadata, links, headings or an LLM summary, brief or fact list; multi-page crawlers, batch routes and routes priced per batch; raw HTTP fetch and proxy routes; audits, SEO and robots checks; PDF, image and video routes; social-media scrapers; and listings whose text says nothing beyond a generic label. Copies of one route (a second version path or port on one host with the same price) count once; the same text on two hosts counts twice. A looser rule would find more.
- Deduplicated by URL. Listed price is the first payment requirement; some endpoints may charge differently by input. The median is the 102nd of 203 prices (0.005).
Where Tanod fits
POST /v1/render takes a public url (up to 2048 characters) and returns the page as Markdown with title, description, final_url, status and a truncated flag, marked as untrusted content. By default it fetches static HTML: up to 4 redirects, each checked, a 2 MB body cap and at most 200,000 characters of Markdown. With js:true the page is rendered in a sandboxed headless Chromium (a 20 second browser limit) before conversion. Private and internal addresses are refused, and the browser can reach only the one validated host. The route returns Markdown, not structured fields, and takes one URL per call: there is no crawl or batch route. It has no login, cookie or proxy features and no handling for bot walls, so pages that need them will not render. It costs USD 0.005 for a static fetch and USD 0.01 with JavaScript (the same price applies to a screenshot, format:"screenshot"), paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402. Static renders have 5 free calls per IP per UTC day, a pool shared with PDF text, page metadata, OCR and the other sitepeek document routes; JavaScript and screenshot renders are not free. The MCP tool is render_page at https://tanod.dev/mcp. Details are in the page to Markdown or screenshot guide.
When a priced listing above is the better choice
- You want a lower price for JavaScript pages: 129 of the 203 listings charge less than USD 0.01, and some that mention a headless browser charge USD 0.002 to 0.005.
- You need to read many pages in one call, crawl a site, or get structured fields, links or metadata next to the text: several listings offer batch, crawl or structured routes, and Tanod does not.
- You need to get past bot walls or use a proxy or residential IP: a number of listings say they handle this, and Tanod does not try.
When Tanod fits
- You want one public URL as Markdown at the median price (USD 0.005), with a stated size limit and a
truncatedflag instead of a silent cut. - You want the choice per call between a static fetch and a JavaScript render, and the output marked as untrusted content so an agent does not treat page text as instructions.
- You want a free allowance to try static renders (5 per IP per day, automatic over MCP) and a refusal of private addresses before any request is made.
