What weather forecast APIs cost over x402
Snapshot 2026-10-10
An agent can ask for the weather at a place, or for the next hours and days, by the call over x402. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 104 distinct priced weather forecast and current-conditions offers on 79 hosts, the median is USD 0.0033 per call, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.5. Tanod charges USD 0.002 per forecast call, so 20 listings are lower, 15 are the same and 69 are higher. These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints, and they differ a lot in what they return (see below).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of accuracy, coverage or uptime. The listings are not like for like. Some serve current conditions only, some a daily forecast for 7 to 16 days, some an hourly forecast; some cover the whole world from open models (MET Norway, Open-Meteo), and a good share only the United States, from the National Weather Service. A few return a short single-city feed or add air quality or alerts to the forecast. Tanod returns an hourly forecast of up to 48 hours from MET Norway, for coordinates or for a city of 15,000 or more people, in one call at one price.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the x402 Bazaar, queried 2026-10-10 (newest listing seen 2026-10-09T04:31:37Z). Internal-only sources, Circle-sourced rows and Tanod's own routes are not used.
- Match: listings with a price above zero whose name, URL or description mentions weather, forecast, meteo, temperature or climate. That returned about 430 distinct URLs, which were reviewed one by one by name and description. Only endpoints whose main job is a weather forecast or current conditions for a place or coordinates were kept: 104 offers on 79 hosts. A few kept routes add a little air quality or a warning feed to the forecast. Listings with no description text, only a URL, were not kept, because the review could not tell what they return.
- Excluded: space weather (Kp, aurora, solar wind), aviation METAR and TAF, climate normals and historical archives, air quality alone, marine, tide, flood, soil and solar-irradiance routes, weather alerts and warnings alone, weather prediction-market, risk and delay-score routes, commodity and crop signals, bundles that mix weather with trip, travel, place or briefing data, persona-labelled news and outlook pages from one host (more than 100 routes), batch routes priced per batch, and unrelated rows that matched only on a word such as climate. A looser rule would find more.
- Deduplicated by URL; where one host lists several routes (current, hourly, daily), all count as offers and the host counts once. Per-city routes that differ only by the city in the path (one host lists dozens at one price) count once per route template: one forecast template from one host, and one forecast and one current template from another. A versioned copy or an alias of a route on one host with the same text and price counts once. Listed price is the first payment requirement; some endpoints may charge differently by input. Median of 104 prices is the mean of the 52nd and 53rd values (0.003 and 0.0036), 0.0033.
Where Tanod fits
POST /v1/weather takes either place (a city name, as "City" or "City, CC" with an ISO country code or a US state code) or lat and lon, exactly one form per call, and an optional hours from 1 to 48 (default 24). It returns hourly rows with air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, cloud fraction, precipitation amount and a symbol code, plus an attribution field. The data is MET Norway (api.met.no) forecast model output and GeoNames place data, both CC BY 4.0, so credit is required; place names match cities of 15,000 or more people. It costs USD 0.002 per call, paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402, and 5 free forecasts per IP per UTC day (header X-Tanod-Free: 1) come from a pool used only by this route. An unknown place is a 404 place_not_found and an upstream error is a 5xx; neither is charged. The MCP tool is get_weather at https://tanod.dev/mcp. Details are in the weather API guide.
When a priced listing above is the better choice
- You need a daily forecast for more than 2 days: Tanod stops at 48 hours, and many listings above give 7, 9 or 16 days.
- You need the official National Weather Service forecast for a US location: several listings above relay it, including its hourly and gridded forecasts.
- You need a place smaller than a 15,000-person city, a street address, or alerts, air quality, marine or historical data in the same route.
When Tanod fits
- You want an hourly forecast for up to 48 hours for a city or a coordinate pair, with temperature, humidity, wind, cloud and precipitation, in one call.
- You want USD 0.002 per call with no account, and a free allowance for trying it (5 per IP per UTC day).
- You want a documented source with a stated licence and an attribution field in each answer, and no charge when the place is unknown or the upstream fails.
