What token price APIs cost over x402

Snapshot 2026-10-10

An agent can ask for the current USD price of a crypto token by the call over x402. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 164 distinct priced token spot price offers on 124 hosts, the median is USD 0.005 per call, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.5. Tanod charges USD 0.002 per Chainlink price read, which is below the median: 33 listings are lower, 30 are the same and 101 are higher. The comparison is not like for like: Tanod reads a fixed list of Chainlink feeds on Ethereum and Base, while many listings price any token by symbol, CoinGecko id or contract address (see below). These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints.

Median listed x402 price for token spot prices: USD 0.005 per call across 164 offers on 124 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-10). Tanod: USD 0.002 per Chainlink price read (below the median).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of accuracy, freshness or uptime. The listings are not like for like. Some price a fixed set of majors, some any token on one chain or many by contract address, some any CoinGecko id; the source is a centralized exchange (Coinbase, Binance, Kraken or OKX), an aggregator (CoinGecko, DefiLlama), a DEX pool, or an on-chain oracle (Chainlink or Pyth). Many price a batch of tokens per call, so the price per token is lower than the price per call.

Method

Where Tanod fits

POST /v1/chain/price takes a chain (ethereum or base) and a pair from a fixed list of Chainlink feeds: ETH/USD, BTC/USD, USDC/USD, USDT/USD, DAI/USD, LINK/USD, stETH/USD (Ethereum only), cbETH/USD (Base only) and cbETH/ETH. It reads the feed on-chain and returns the price as an exact decimal string with the round id, the update time, age_seconds and a stale flag measured against the feed's heartbeat; a feed that returns a non-positive or incomplete answer is an error and is not charged. It is the oracle's last reported answer, not a DEX spot price. It costs USD 0.002 per call, paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402, and 10 free chain reads per IP per UTC day are shared with the other chainpeek reads. The MCP tool is get_token_price at https://tanod.dev/mcp. Details are in the Chainlink price feed API guide.

Price and free allowance

/v1/chain/price USD 0.002 per call. Free: 10 chainpeek reads per IP per UTC day, shared with every chainpeek read (use the header X-Tanod-Free: 1). Paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402. MCP tool: get_token_price at https://tanod.dev/mcp, where the free tier is automatic.
