DEX swap quote APIs for agents: price per call
Snapshot 2026-10-07
Before a trading agent swaps one token for another, it asks a quote: how much of the output token will this amount buy right now, through which pool or route, and how far will the fill move from the mid price. On the x402 marketplace these quotes are sold per call, and we index the listings daily. After a hand check that drops token-price feeds, pool-stats readers, honeypot and risk checks, perp and funding tools, and arbitrage scanners, 29 genuine swap-quote offers remain on 2026-10-07, across 23 hosts. The median listed offer costs USD 0.005 per call and the middle half sit between USD 0.002 and USD 0.02. Tanod's chainpeek quote, /v1/chain/quote, lists at USD 0.003.
Median listed x402 price for a DEX swap quote: USD 0.005 per call across 29 offers on 23 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-07). Tanod's /v1/chain/quote: USD 0.003, below the median. Tanod returns a single-pool Uniswap V3 spot quote on Base or Ethereum; many offers here route across several venues and some return unsigned calldata.
The numbers
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Swap-quote offers in the 2026-10-07 snapshot, not Tanod, after the hand check | 29 on 23 hosts |
| Lowest listed price | USD 0.00001 (a swap-transaction builder, effectively a loss leader) |
| First quartile | USD 0.002 |
| Median | USD 0.005 |
| Third quartile | USD 0.02 |
| Highest listed price | USD 0.05 (an analyze-then-quote gate) |
| Tanod at USD 0.003 | 9 offers list less, 2 list exactly this, 18 list more |
What the offer returns
| Primary output of the offer | Offers |
|---|---|
| A swap quote: the output amount or realizable fill price, usually the best route across one or more venues; some also return unsigned calldata ready to sign | 24 |
| A price-impact or slippage estimate at a given trade size (how far a fill of that size moves from spot), without a single output-amount quote | 5 |
Each offer is counted under one primary output, though several return both. The two groups overlap: a quote at a trade size implies a price impact, and a price-impact tool reads the same pools. The split marks whether the headline answer is "you receive X" or "a trade of this size moves the price by Y".

Prices are per call as listed, in USD. The crowd sits between USD 0.001 and USD 0.02. The two offers under USD 0.001 are one seller's swap-transaction builder priced at USD 0.00001, essentially free as a hook to the rest of its service. The USD 0.05 top end is an analyze-then-quote gate that runs a token risk pass before it quotes.
Which swap-quote listings agents actually pay
The Bazaar also reports, per listing, how many distinct wallets paid it and how many paid calls it served in the last 30 days. Demand in this category is real: the 29 offers drew about 60 paying-wallet counts and 358 paid calls over the window, and one Solana swap-aggregator listing served 167 paid calls on its own. Tanod's quote is not yet in this Bazaar demand feed.

Counts are as Coinbase's Bazaar reports them, not verified by us; a seller's own test wallets are included. Ranked by paying wallets, then paid calls. Every listing's counts are in the CC BY 4.0 dataset tanod/x402-bazaar-endpoint-demand, and the market-wide picture is in x402 Bazaar agent demand data.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the CDP x402 Bazaar, latest ok snapshot 2026-10-07. Internal-only sources are not used. The MCP registry and Smithery carry no per-call price and are left out.
- Category: an endpoint that takes two token identifiers and an amount and returns a swap quote for trading one for the other on a DEX or aggregator — the output amount or fill price, the route or pool, price impact or slippage, and sometimes an unsigned transaction. Price-impact and slippage estimators at a trade size are included; Tanod's own listings (tanod.dev) are excluded.
- Hand check: a keyword match on "swap", "quote" or "slippage" alone pulls in unrelated listings, so each candidate was read. Removed, by hand: token USD-price feeds (a separate page), pool-stats and TVL readers, token risk, honeypot and pre-trade go/no-go checks, perpetual funding, open-interest and basis tools, cross-venue arbitrage scanners, bridge-only quotes, and offers that only share a word (a matrix transpose, a leetspeak translator, SEC XBRL facts, stock-index quotes).
- Broad catalogs collapsed: two hosts list hundreds of templated offers spanning many categories (
api.vextorium.comandmarket.datapackvibe.com). Each is counted once, as its single genuine swap-quote offer at its lowest listed price, so a broad seller does not dominate the figures;market.datapackvibe.comhad no genuine swap-quote offer and drops out entirely. - Deduplicated: the same host and path counts once, at its lowest listed price; a second path with the same description on one host, including a translated duplicate, collapses to one offer. One aggregator (3route) appears on two hosts and is counted on one.
- The manual step is a judgement call and another reader could draw the line differently, especially between a quote and a price-impact estimate; the quartiles move little but the counts would change. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Listed price is the first payment requirement; listings can be stale or wrong. Because the hand step is needed here, this page is the reference figure and this category is not in the automatic daily file x402-category-prices.json.
Tanod's chain-read routes
Each route is paid per call in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402. There is no account and no key; an unpaid call returns a 402 with the payment requirements. Prices are from Tanod's configuration on 2026-10-10.
| Read | Route | Price per call (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Uniswap V3 exact-input swap quote, best of four fee tiers, on Base or Ethereum (chainpeek) | /v1/chain/quote | 0.003 |
| Token spot price from a Chainlink data feed (chainpeek) | /v1/chain/price | 0.002 |

Reading the comparison
- On price, Tanod at USD 0.003 is below the median USD 0.005: of the 29 offers, 9 list less, 2 list the same and 18 list more.
- But Tanod's quote is narrower. It is a single Uniswap V3 exact-input quote on Base or Ethereum, the best of the 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.3% and 1% fee tiers, read at the latest block. It is a spot quote, not an executable order, and it does not route through other DEXs, aggregators or chains.
- Many offers here are multi-venue aggregators — 3route, RAVN, suverse, losbeto, straelo and others — that compare 1inch, Jupiter, Li.Fi, KyberSwap, Aerodrome and more, return the best route, and sometimes hand back unsigned calldata ready to sign. Those do more than a single-pool read, and several cost the same as Tanod or less.
- A few offers are price-impact or slippage estimators at a trade size rather than a fill quote, which answers "can I unwind this size" more than "what will I receive".
- Listed price says nothing about which venues are covered, how fresh the read is, or whether calldata is returned. For a single-DEX spot number on Base or Ethereum, Tanod is at the cheap end; for best-execution routing across venues and chains, an aggregator is the right tool.
