DeFi lending & yield rate APIs for agents: price per call
Snapshot 2026-10-07
Before an agent parks idle stablecoins, rotates into a better pool, or sizes a borrow, it asks a simple question: where does this token earn the most right now, and at what supply or borrow rate? On the x402 marketplace this data is sold per call, and we index the listings daily. After a hand check that drops APR/APY calculators, total-value-locked feeds with no rate, protocol risk scores, portfolio copilots, transaction builders, position readers, and plain staking or Treasury benchmarks, 38 genuine DeFi lending and yield-rate offers remain on 2026-10-07, across 38 hosts. The median listed offer costs USD 0.006 per call and the middle half sit between USD 0.002 and USD 0.01. Tanod's chainpeek yields read, /v1/defi/yields, lists at USD 0.001.
Median listed x402 price for a DeFi lending or yield read: USD 0.006 per call across 38 offers on 38 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-07). Tanod's /v1/defi/yields: USD 0.001, at the market floor — 8 offers list the same, 30 list more, none list less. Tanod returns live supply and borrow APY for Aave V3, Compound V3 and Morpho across five chains, with a best-stablecoin-rate pick; many offers here rank the far larger DefiLlama yield-pool universe instead.
The numbers
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Lending and yield-rate offers in the 2026-10-07 snapshot, not Tanod, after the hand check | 38 on 38 hosts |
| Lowest listed price | USD 0.001 |
| First quartile | USD 0.002 |
| Median | USD 0.006 |
| Third quartile | USD 0.01 |
| Highest listed price | USD 0.10 (a stress-and-contagion risk-adjusted ranking) |
| Tanod at USD 0.001 | 0 offers list less, 8 list exactly this, 30 list more |
What the offer returns
| Primary output of the offer | Offers |
|---|---|
| Ranked DeFi yield-pool APYs across many protocols and chains — the DefiLlama yields universe, which mixes lending, liquidity-pool, vault and staking pools, sorted by APY and TVL | 27 |
| Supply and borrow rates for specific lending markets (Aave, Compound, Morpho and peers), often read on-chain per asset and chain | 11 |
Each offer is counted under one primary output, though the two overlap: most pool rankers include lending pools, and a money-market reader is one lending pool in detail. The split marks whether the headline answer is "here are the top pools anywhere" or "here are the rates on these named markets". Tanod sits in the second group.

Prices are per call as listed, in USD. The crowd sits between USD 0.001 and USD 0.01, with a long tail of risk-overlay and signed-attestation products up to USD 0.10. The USD 0.10 top end is a stress- and contagion-penalized yield ranking; the USD 0.05 band is on-chain signed attestations and best-stablecoin picks. Eight offers tie Tanod at the USD 0.001 floor.
Which lending and yield listings agents actually pay
The Bazaar also reports, per listing, how many distinct wallets paid it and how many paid calls it served in the last 30 days. Demand in this category is real: the 38 offers drew about 173 paying-wallet counts and 456 paid calls over the window, one yield-markets listing served 158 paid calls on its own, and a stablecoin-vaults listing served another 82. Tanod's yields read is not yet in this Bazaar demand feed.

Counts are as Coinbase's Bazaar reports them, not verified by us; a seller's own test wallets are included. Ranked by paying wallets, then paid calls. Every listing's counts are in the CC BY 4.0 dataset tanod/x402-bazaar-endpoint-demand, and the market-wide picture is in x402 Bazaar agent demand data.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the CDP x402 Bazaar, latest ok snapshot 2026-10-07. Internal-only sources are not used. The MCP registry and Smithery carry no per-call price and are left out.
- Category: an endpoint that returns current (or historical) DeFi lending or yield rates — supply and borrow APY on money markets such as Aave, Compound and Morpho, or ranked yield-pool APYs across protocols and chains — so an agent can decide where a token earns or what a borrow costs. Tanod's own listings (tanod.dev) are excluded.
- Hand check: a keyword match on "yield", "lending" or "apy" alone pulls in unrelated listings, so each candidate was read. Removed, by hand: APR-to-APY and compound-interest calculators, bond yield-to-maturity and option math, total-value-locked feeds with no rate attached, protocol risk scores on their own, portfolio copilots and allocation advisers, unsigned-transaction and action builders (enter, exit, manage, supply-execution fees), wallet balance and position readers, validator and KYC-status sub-tools, liquid-staking exchange-rate (token/ETH ratio, not an APY), plain staking APY and Pendle fixed-yield markets (distinct instruments), Treasury and central-bank benchmark rates (UK interbank, JGB curve, South Africa repo), knowledge-graph and single-vault risk cards, and offers that only share a word (rental yield, crop yield).
- Deduplicated by host: the same host counts once, at its lowest in-scope listed price, with the paid-call count as the tiebreak. Hosts that list the same read twice — including a translated or re-pathed duplicate — collapse to one offer. One seller (
api.vextorium.com) lists roughly twenty templated lending and yield endpoints in two languages; it is counted once, as its single cheapest genuine offer, so a broad seller does not dominate the figures. - The manual step is a judgement call and another reader could draw the line differently, especially between a broad pool ranker and a money-market rate reader, or over whether staking and RWA pools belong; the quartiles move little but the counts would change. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Listed price is the first payment requirement; listings can be stale or wrong. Because the hand step is needed here, this page is the reference figure and this category is not in the automatic daily file x402-category-prices.json.
Tanod's DeFi rate read
The route is paid per call in USDC on Base, Polygon or Solana with x402. There is no account and no key; an unpaid call returns a 402 with the payment requirements. Prices are from Tanod's configuration on 2026-10-10.

Reading the comparison
- On price, Tanod at USD 0.001 is at the market floor, below the median USD 0.006: of the 38 offers, none list less, 8 list the same and 30 list more.
- But Tanod's read is deliberately narrow. It covers three money markets — Aave V3, Compound V3 (Comet) and Morpho — across Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon, with a single best-stablecoin-rate pick. It does not rank the roughly 15,000-pool DefiLlama yields universe, and it has no liquidity-pool, Pendle, RWA or historical-series coverage.
- Tanod reads the rates itself: Aave reserve data and Compound Comet rates come from on-chain Multicall reads, Morpho from its keyless GraphQL, answered from a snapshot refreshed about every five minutes rather than a third-party passthrough. Incentive rewards are reported separately, never folded into the headline supply or borrow APY.
- Many offers here are broad DefiLlama pool rankers — tickersfeed, agentbit, blockrun, the x402atlas and relayhop passthroughs — that cover far more pools and chains than Tanod, and several cost the same or less. For the widest pool search, those are the right tool.
- Listed price says nothing about which protocols are covered, how fresh the read is, or whether the rates are read on-chain. For the supply and borrow rates on the three major money markets, read directly and priced at the floor, Tanod is the cheap, focused option; for a screen of every pool everywhere, a broad aggregator fits better.
