Crypto OHLCV candle APIs for agents: price per call
Snapshot 2026-10-07
When an agent charts a market, backtests a rule, or checks a trend before it acts, it asks for OHLCV candles: open, high, low, close and volume for an asset over fixed intervals. On the x402 marketplace this data is sold per call, and we index the listings daily. After a hand check that drops technical-indicator and signal endpoints, forecasts, single spot quotes, bundles, and everything that is stock, forex or non-crypto only, 33 genuine crypto OHLCV candle offers remain on 2026-10-07, across 33 hosts. The median listed offer costs USD 0.006 per call and the middle half sit between USD 0.005 and USD 0.01. Tanod's chainpeek candle read, /v1/chain/candles, lists at USD 0.003.
Median listed x402 price for a crypto OHLCV candle read: USD 0.006 per call across 33 offers on 33 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-07). Tanod's /v1/chain/candles: USD 0.003, below the first quartile and the median — 5 offers list less, 1 lists the same, 27 list more. Tanod builds its candles from Uniswap v3 swap events on Base, for ETH and BTC only; most offers here feed off a centralized exchange or aggregator and cover far more assets.

| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Crypto OHLCV candle offers in the 2026-10-07 snapshot, not Tanod, after the hand check | 33 on 33 hosts |
| Lowest listed price | USD 0.001 |
| First quartile | USD 0.005 |
| Median | USD 0.006 |
| Third quartile | USD 0.01 |
| Highest listed price | USD 0.50 (BTC/ETH daily, 1,000 days, once-a-day refresh) |
| Tanod at USD 0.003 | 5 offers list less, 1 lists exactly this, 27 list more |
Where the candles come from
| How the offer builds its candles | Offers |
|---|---|
| From a centralized exchange, a derivatives venue, or an aggregator feed — Coinbase, Binance, OKX, Kraken, CoinGecko, Hyperliquid, dYdX | 28 |
| Read on-chain from a DEX pool or on-chain venue — the pool's own swaps or trades | 5 |
Tanod sits in the second, smaller group: it computes candles from the Uniswap v3 Swap events of one pool on Base, so the price is the pool's own on-chain trade history, not a centralized-exchange tape. On-chain prices can differ from centralized exchanges (fees, arbitrage lag, swaps inside a block, a depeg of the quote stablecoin). For a broad, CEX-grade tape across many assets, the first group fits better; for the on-chain truth of a specific DEX pool, the second does.

Which candle listings agents actually pay
The Bazaar also reports, per listing, how many distinct wallets paid it and how many paid calls it served in the last 30 days. Demand in this category is real but concentrated: the 33 offers drew about 671 paying-wallet counts and 1,053 paid calls over the window, but one on-chain venue (api.onesource.io, Robinhood Chain) accounts for about 451 of those wallet counts and 695 of the calls across its two candle listings. The other 31 hosts drew roughly 220 wallet counts and 358 calls between them. Tanod's candle read is not yet in this Bazaar demand feed.

Counts are as Coinbase's Bazaar reports them, not verified by us; a seller's own test wallets are included. Ranked by paying wallets, then paid calls. Every listing's counts are in the CC BY 4.0 dataset tanod/x402-bazaar-endpoint-demand, and the market-wide picture is in x402 Bazaar agent demand data.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the CDP x402 Bazaar, latest ok snapshot 2026-10-07. Internal-only sources are not used. The MCP registry and Smithery carry no per-call price and are left out.
- Category: an endpoint whose headline output is a time series of crypto OHLCV or OHLC candles — open, high, low, close and volume over fixed intervals — for charting, backtesting or trend reads. Tanod's own listings (tanod.dev) are excluded.
- Hand check: a keyword match on "ohlc", "candle" or "kline" alone pulls in unrelated listings, so each candidate was read. Removed, by hand: technical-indicator and signal endpoints (RSI, MACD, Bollinger, Ichimoku, support/resistance, bullish/bearish or confluence reads) that consume candles but return a signal; realized-volatility, z-score and price-direction forecasts; single live spot quotes with no series; decision-pack and research-workflow bundles where candles are one field among many; endpoints that are stock, equity, forex or options only, with no crypto; medical risk scores ("Kline" criteria), lighting units (foot-candles), physical-candle catalogs, tax tools and webhook builders that only share a word; and compute-instance price bars. Multi-asset feeds that explicitly include crypto candles (for example a stocks-crypto-forex aggregate) are kept and marked as multi-asset.
- Asset class: listings that name an asset class as stock, equity or forex only were dropped; a generic "candlesticks for a trading pair" or "for charting" with no class named was treated as crypto market data, the dominant class in this marketplace. This judgement affects a handful of offers near the middle of the range.
- Deduplicated by host: the same host counts once, at its lowest in-scope listed price, with the paid-call count as the tiebreak. One seller (
market.datapackvibe.com) lists roughly forty-five per-asset hourly-candle endpoints off one Coinbase feed; it is counted once, as a single USD 0.01 offer, so a broad seller does not dominate the figures. Hosts that list the same read twice collapse to one. - The manual step is a judgement call and another reader could draw the line differently, especially over whether a candle-plus-indicator bundle, a per-row-priced feed, or a multi-asset aggregate belongs; the quartiles move little but the counts would change. Quartiles use linear interpolation. Listed price is the first payment requirement; listings can be stale or wrong. Because the hand step is needed here, this page is the reference figure and this category is not in the automatic daily file x402-category-prices.json.
Tanod's candle read
The route is paid per call in USDC on Base, Polygon or Solana with x402. There is no account and no key; an unpaid call returns a 402 with the payment requirements. Prices are from Tanod's configuration on 2026-10-10.
| Read | Route | Price per call (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| OHLCV candles for ETH (WETH/USDC) and BTC (cbBTC/USDC), computed from Uniswap v3 Swap events on Base, intervals 5m / 15m / 1h / 4h / 1d (chainpeek) | /v1/chain/candles | 0.003 |

Reading the comparison
- On price, Tanod at USD 0.003 is below the first quartile (USD 0.005) and the median (USD 0.006): of the 33 offers, 5 list less, 1 lists the same and 27 list more.
- But Tanod's read is deliberately narrow. It covers two assets only — ETH as WETH/USDC and BTC as cbBTC/USDC — each from a single Uniswap v3 pool on Base. There are no altcoins, no other chains or venues, and the lookback is capped per interval (200 candles at 5m and 15m, 168 at 1h, 42 at 4h, 30 at 1d). Offers that feed off a centralized exchange cover hundreds of pairs and far longer history.
- What Tanod gives in return is the on-chain price itself: open, high, low and close are the pool's post-swap prices and volume is the amount actually swapped, read from Uniswap v3 Swap events rather than a third-party tape, from a background index so a request reads memory. A candle with no swaps carries the previous close at zero volume; the last candle is still forming.
- DEX candles are not interchangeable with centralized-exchange candles: fees, arbitrage lag, swaps inside a block, MEV and a depeg of the quote stablecoin can move them apart. For the price an agent would actually trade against on Base, the pool's own candles are the right read; for a market-wide BTC or ETH tape, a CEX-sourced feed is.
- Listed price says nothing about the source, the asset coverage, or how fresh the read is. For on-chain ETH and BTC candles on Base, priced below the median, Tanod is the cheap, focused option; for broad multi-asset or multi-venue history, an exchange-sourced aggregator fits better.
