What text summarization APIs cost over x402
Snapshot 2026-10-10
An agent can send a block of text to a summarization endpoint and pay for the call over x402. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 39 distinct priced offers that summarize text you send, on 38 hosts. The median is USD 0.01 per call, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.25. Tanod charges USD 0.003 per summary, which is below the median: 3 listings are lower, 0 are the same and 36 are higher. The comparison is not like for like: Tanod returns an extractive summary, the most central sentences of your text copied verbatim, while many listings say they use a language model to write a new summary, and some also take a URL. These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints.
Median listed x402 price for text summarization: USD 0.01 per call across 39 offers on 38 hosts (snapshot 2026-10-10). Tanod: USD 0.003 per summary (below the median).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of summary quality, faithfulness or uptime. Many listings state a model or a style; five describe themselves as extractive with no model (shelf.thirdmade.net, agentbit.app/v1/content/summarize, api.x402node.dev, kassa-402.annushka1190.workers.dev and one ngrok-hosted route), and two of those list below Tanod. Input limits that listings state range from 1,500 to 40,000 characters; Tanod accepts up to 200,000.

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the x402 Bazaar and PayAI, queried 2026-10-10 (newest listing seen 2026-10-09T04:31:37Z), listings last seen on or after 2026-10-07. Internal-only sources, Circle-sourced rows and Tanod's own routes are not used.
- Match: listings with a price above zero whose URL, name or description contains summarize, summarise, summarization, TL;DR or a /summar path, plus a second pass on condense, key points and bullet points. About 275 distinct URLs matched the first pass and were reviewed by name and description. Only endpoints whose main job is to summarize text, or a document's text, that the caller sends were kept: 39 offers on 38 hosts. Offers that take either text or a URL (for example
x402.agentindex.world/summarize) are kept because they accept raw text. - Excluded: chat completions and general LLM endpoints, research and briefing agents, bundles that summarize among other tasks (for example a five-in-one content studio), summaries of data rather than prose (statistics, logs, market or account summaries, Wikipedia article summaries), and endpoints whose input is a URL only (about a dozen: page, PDF, YouTube and news summarizers). Eleven routes on seven hosts have a summarize path but no description and an empty example body, so we could not tell whether they take text; they are not counted. On one host, the other task-specific summaries at the same price (policy, company, renewal) are not counted, and the same handler listed under two paths (
x402.hydratrader.ai) or two schemes (agentpay.help) counts once. - Deduplicated by URL. Hosts are counted by host name. Listed price is the first payment requirement; some endpoints may charge differently by input length or style. Percentiles are linear interpolation between ranks. Median of 39 prices is the 20th value (0.01).
Where Tanod fits
POST /v1/text/summarize takes a text of up to 200,000 characters, an optional language (stop words for German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch or Portuguese) and either sentences (1 to 100, default 3) or ratio. It ranks the sentences with LexRank (TF-IDF similarity and a graph centrality score), keeps the top ones in their original order and returns them verbatim with a score, the index and the total number of sentences. At most the first 2,000 sentences of a text are ranked, and the response says when later ones were not considered. It does not paraphrase, shorten, translate, check facts or accept a URL, and it has no style or word-count control. It typically answers in under 0.5 s, runs on Tanod's own server without sending the text to a language-model provider, and costs USD 0.003 per call, paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402. 10 free calls per IP per UTC day are shared with the other utilpeek text and data tools. The MCP tool is text_summarize at https://tanod.dev/mcp. Details are in the text summarization API guide.
When a priced listing above is the better choice
- You need prose written for a reader: a paraphrased paragraph, bullets, a headline or a one-liner. Tanod only returns sentences that already exist in the text.
- You need a target word count, a style or a target language for the output; most LLM-based listings take these.
- You want to pass a URL, HTML or a document reference rather than text; several listings take a URL, and Tanod has separate routes for fetching a page.
- You need to condense text where no single sentence carries the point, such as chat logs or transcripts; an extractive method can return sentences that are individually fine and miss the thread.
When Tanod fits
- You want the price below the median, USD 0.003 per call, with a free allowance for trying it. Only 3 of the 39 listings charge less.
- You need every returned sentence to be a verbatim quote with its position, so nothing in the summary can be invented.
- You have long input: Tanod takes up to 200,000 characters in one call, far above the 1,500 to 40,000 characters that listings state.
- You want a deterministic result with no model provider in the path, for a document that should not leave the server.
