Places nearby API: pharmacies, cafes, ATMs and shops near a point
Updated 2026-10-16
Find places near a point
Where is the nearest pharmacy, cafe or ATM?POST https://tanod.dev/v1/places/nearby lists places of one kind within 50 m to 5 km of a point or a city centre, nearest first, from one OpenStreetMap Overpass query. It is for agents that need a real place with an address, hours and a phone number.
curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/places/nearby \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "X-Tanod-Free: 1" \
-d '{"kind": "pharmacy", "lat": 14.5547, "lon": 121.0244, "radius_m": 1000}'
kind is one of pharmacy, hospital, clinic, dentist, veterinary, cafe, restaurant, fast_food, bar, supermarket, convenience_store, bakery, bicycle_shop, hardware_store, electronics_store, laundry, car_repair, atm, bank, fuel, ev_charging, parking, post_office, police, toilets, library, hotel or gym. Give lat and lon, or a place (a city name, optionally ", CC"). radius_m is 50 to 5000 (default 1000) and limit is 1 to 50 (default 20).

Limits
Aplace resolves to the centre of a city (GeoNames, 15,000 people and up), not a street address. For an exact spot, pass lat and lon. OpenStreetMap is community-edited, so names, hours and contacts can be missing or out of date. Straight-line distance is not walking or driving distance. No match in the radius is count 0 and is charged. An unknown kind, a radius over 5 km, or both or neither point forms is a 422; an unmatched place is a 404; a failed query service is a 503. None of these is charged. Answers are cached for up to 10 minutes per point. Tag values are third-party text. Typical time is 2 to 15 s.
Price and free allowance
Each call costs USD 0.005 in USDC through x402. Free: 10 utilpeek calls per IP per UTC day (every utilpeek route shares one pool); add the headerX-Tanod-Free: 1 to an unpaid HTTP call to use it.
It is also the MCP tool find_places_nearby. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, add https://tanod.dev/mcp/util?via=places-nearby-api as a custom connector (steps), then ask, for example, "Find the three nearest pharmacies to 14.5547, 121.0244." Over MCP the free allowance is applied automatically.
