Currency exchange rates API (ECB reference rates)

POST a base currency, and optionally the symbols and a date, to /v1/fx. It returns the European Central Bank (ECB) euro foreign exchange reference rates, as cross rates when the base is not EUR.

Request

symbols (1 to 40 ISO 4217 codes) and date (YYYY-MM-DD, within the last 90 days) are optional. A date with no publication uses the previous publication day.

curl, using the free tier
curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/fx \
  -H 'X-Tanod-Free: 1' -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"base":"USD","symbols":["EUR","JPY","GBP"]}'

Limits and caveats

Source and attribution. The rates are the European Central Bank euro foreign exchange reference rates, which the ECB makes available free of charge at ecb.europa.eu. The response attribution field carries the source URL and terms; keep it when you republish.

Cross rates. For a base other than EUR, the rate is computed from the ECB EUR rates (rate of the symbol divided by rate of the base) and rounded to 8 significant digits. EUR-base rates are the ECB figures unchanged.

Not for transactions. The ECB publishes the rates for information only and discourages using them for transaction purposes. They are daily reference rates, not live market prices.
