How to look up a transaction's status and fee on Base or Ethereum
POST the chain and transaction hash to /v1/chain/tx. It returns a transaction and receipt summary: status, block, confirmations, sender, recipient, value, method id, gas used and the fee, split into execution and L1 data fee on Base.
Request
The hash is 0x plus 64 hex characters. Use ethereum or base as the chain.
curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/chain/tx \
-H 'X-Tanod-Free: 1' -H 'content-type: application/json' \

}Limits and caveats
Fee fields. On Base, fee_wei is execution_fee_wei plus l1_fee_wei (the L1 data fee); in the example above they add up exactly. fee is the same total in ETH.
Confirmations count blocks since inclusion, so a freshly mined transaction shows a small number. This is a read of the node's current view, not a finality guarantee.
A hash the node does not know is not charged. Method ids and addresses are data from the chain; to decode call data, see the calldata endpoint in the API list.
Price and free allowance
USD 0.002 per call, paid in USDC on Base with x402. 10 free chain reads per IP per UTC day with the header X-Tanod-Free: 1. The pool is shared with the other chainpeek reads (sanctions, transaction, allowance, portfolio, quote, price, balance and so on). MCP tool: get_transaction at https://tanod.dev/mcp, where the free tier is automatic.
