MCP awesome list preflight API: check a repo against the list rules

Updated 2026-10-16

Check a repo before you open the PR

Will an MCP server repo pass a punkpeye awesome list today? POST https://tanod.dev/v1/mcp/list-preflight checks one repo against what awesome-mcp-servers or awesome-remote-mcp-servers enforces, read from the list's own README, CONTRIBUTING file and PR-check workflow. It is for maintainers who want to know what a PR would fail on before they open it.
curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/mcp/list-preflight \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "X-Tanod-Free: 1" \
  -d '{"repo": "https://github.com/tanod-labs/tanod-mcp", "list": "awesome-mcp-servers"}'

Optional fields: description, category, tags (local list), and for the remote list endpoint, homepage and auth.

Limits

A pass means the repo meets what those files enforce today. It does not mean a maintainer will merge it. Nothing is opened, posted or sent to a list. The list's files are cached for up to 6 hours. Repo and list text is third-party data. A repo GitHub does not know is a normal charged answer with a failed check. A bad repo URL is a 422 and an unreadable list is a 503; neither is charged. Typical time is 1 to 6 s.

Price and free allowance

Each call costs USD 0.005 in USDC through x402. Free: 10 agent-index calls per IP per UTC day (shared with the agent-index query); add the header X-Tanod-Free: 1 to an unpaid HTTP call to use it.

It is also the MCP tool preflight_mcp_listing. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, add https://tanod.dev/mcp/agents?via=mcp-awesome-list-preflight-api as a custom connector (steps), then ask, for example, "Would my repo pass the awesome-mcp-servers checks today?" Over MCP the free allowance is applied automatically.
