Excel to JSON API: read an XLSX workbook into rows, pay per call

POST https://tanod.dev/v1/docs/xlsx-to-json reads an Excel workbook and returns each sheet as rows of string cells, or with "format": "csv" one CSV file per sheet. Send the workbook as a public url (up to 20 MB) or as file_base64 (up to 10 MB decoded). It costs USD 0.005 per call, paid in USDC through x402, with no account and no API key. There is no free daily allowance on this route. The same function is the convert_excel_to_json tool in the documents MCP server at https://tanod.dev/mcp/docs.

Example

curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/docs/xlsx-to-json \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"url": "https://tanod.dev/samples/sales-sample.xlsx"}'

Without payment the answer is 402 Payment Required with the price in USDC; an x402 client signs and repeats the call. For the hosted sample, a two-sheet workbook, the reply has sheet_count 2 and sheets like {"name": "Sales", "columns": 4, "row_count": 3, "truncated": false, "rows": [["region", "q1", "q2", "total"], ["North", "1204", "1311", "2515"], ["South", "980", "1015", "1995"]]}. The reply also has input_bytes, sheets_read, a note and untrusted_content. With format: "csv" each sheet comes back as a UTF-8 CSV file (CRLF line ends) in files, with file_count and output_bytes.
