A hosted Ethereum and Base chain-data MCP server with no RPC key
The popular EVM MCP servers, such as mcpdotdirect's evm-mcp-server (60+ networks), run on your machine with your own RPC settings, and the Coinbase-based Base MCP server needs developer-platform credentials. They can also sign transactions. Tanod's /mcp/chain is read-only and hosted: one URL, no RPC key, no wallet, for an agent that only needs to look things up on Ethereum or Base.
Connect
claude mcp add --transport http tanod-chain https://tanod.dev/mcp/chain{"mcpServers": {"tanod-chain": {"url": "https://tanod.dev/mcp/chain"}}}What's on it (19 tools)
- Accounts: native and ERC-20 balances, a portfolio view, token allowances, NFT owner lookup (portfolio).
- Tokens and prices: token metadata, Chainlink prices, Uniswap swap quotes and OHLCV candles from on-chain swaps (candles, quotes).
- Transactions: status and details, decoded event logs, decoded calldata, gas, blocks and the block at a timestamp (calldata).
- Names and safety: ENS resolution and records, proxy detection, a pre-interaction contract check and OFAC address screening.
Try asking
- "What are vitalik.eth's ETH and USDC balances on Base?"
- "Decode the logs of this transaction and tell me what happened."
- "Give me ETH/USDC hourly candles for the last day."
Limits and caveats
Ethereum mainnet and Base only, read-only: it never holds keys or signs anything. Results come from public RPCs and can lag a few blocks. The full Tanod server with all 120+ tools stays at https://tanod.dev/mcp.
Price and free allowance
Free daily chain reads per IP, applied automatically over MCP. Past that, most reads cost USD 0.001 to 0.004 per call in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402.
