What email verification APIs cost over x402
Snapshot 2026-10-10
An agent that has collected an email address can ask, by the call over x402, whether it is worth using before it sends or stores it. We index the x402 Bazaar daily, so here is what those listings charge on 2026-10-10. The short version: we found 69 distinct priced email verification offers on 62 hosts, the median is USD 0.0035 per call, the lowest is USD 0.001 and the highest USD 0.216. Tanod charges USD 0.002 per verification, so 18 listings are lower, 9 are the same and 42 are higher. These are listed prices, matched by keyword and reviewed by name and description; we have not tested the endpoints, and they differ in what they check (see below).

Prices are per call as listed, in USD, not a measure of accuracy, coverage or uptime. The listings are not like for like. Nearly all check syntax and the domain's MX records, and most add disposable-domain, role-account and free-provider flags; many add a typo suggestion or a 0 to 100 score. At least five say they contact the mail server (an SMTP probe, handshake or SMTP-level check) to test whether the mailbox exists, and several others state outright that they do not. Tanod checks syntax, MX, null MX, the A/AAAA fallback, a public address for the MX host, a disposable-domain list, role local parts and free providers, from DNS only; it never contacts the mail server.

| Host and path | Listed price (USD) | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|
email-verify-api-production-d262.up.railway.app/verify | 0.001 | syntax, MX records, an SMTP RCPT probe, catch-all, disposable, role and free-provider checks, typo hint, 0 to 100 score and verdict |
fiatdock.com/v1/email/check | 0.001 | syntax, DNS (MX, then A/AAAA), disposable, role and free-provider lists, typo suggestion and a risk verdict; the listing says no SMTP probe |
agent402.tools/api/email-validate | 0.001 | syntax plus a live MX lookup on the domain, described as a deliverability signal only |
mail.halowerk.com/email | 0.001 | DNS and list based verification; says it never claims a mailbox exists without evidence, so a routable address is "unknown" without an SMTP probe |
aayatai.com/email-check | 0.002 | syntax, MX with null-MX and A-record fallback, disposable providers, role accounts, free providers and typo suggestions |
x402-agent-api.onrender.com/api/v1/email-verify | 0.002 | syntax, MX and null MX, disposable providers, free webmail, role accounts and likely typos of big providers |
agentsvc.io/api/v1/proxy/email-verify | 0.0025 | asks the mail server whether the address exists (SMTP RCPT TO probe, no mail sent), on top of syntax, MX, disposable and role checks |
api.vextorium.com/v1/email-validate | 0.004 | syntax, domain MX records and a disposable-domain flag; sends no email and does not store the address |
api.qonoro.ai/v1/email/validate | 0.005 | syntax, MX lookup and SMTP server reachability, with a risk score and quality rating |
data.greeneris.io/v1/validate/email | 0.005 | syntax then a live MX lookup over DNS-over-HTTPS; flags non-existent domains and null-MX domains |
email.openverbs.com/v1/validate | 0.006 | syntax, MX/A deliverability lookup, disposable and role-based detection; no mailbox probing |
email-verifier.underscoredone.com/verify | 0.01 | whether one address can receive mail, as a verdict of valid, invalid or risky, with free-provider and role-account flags |
x402.orthogonal.com/findymail/api/verify | 0.015 | verify an email address; the listing says it uses one verifier credit per attempted verification |
hubvibe-io.com/work/email/verify | 0.02 | syntax, DNS (MX, null MX, no such domain) and the domain's own mail server asked whether the mailbox exists |
api.strale.io/x402/solutions/lead-email-verify | 0.216 | a deliverability check, DNS and domain reputation in one call, for a prospect's email |

Method
- Source: Tanod's agent index of the x402 Bazaar, queried 2026-10-10 (newest listing seen 2026-10-09T04:31:37Z). Internal-only sources, Circle-sourced rows and Tanod's own routes are not used.
- Match: listings with a price above zero whose name, URL or description mentions email together with verify, validate, deliverability, check, MX or disposable, or mentions MX records, disposable addresses or SMTP. That returned 561 distinct URLs, which were reviewed one by one by name and description. Only endpoints that take one email address and check it by syntax and mail-routing (DNS or SMTP) evidence were kept: 69 offers on 62 hosts. Listings with no description text, only a URL, or only a generic placeholder, were not kept, because the review could not tell what they return. A few kept routes also accept several addresses in one call at the listed price.
- Excluded: syntax-only checks that make no DNS lookup; disposable-list-only flags; bulk, list-cleaning, batch and job routes; domain-level email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, MTA-STS), DNS record lookups and mail-host detection pages; email sending, temporary inboxes and inbox APIs; breach and infostealer exposure lookups; email finders and enrichment by email, including people search; sanctions, fraud, KYC and spam-content scores; skill packs that bundle several tools; domain-only trust and readiness reports; and persona-labelled templated routes from one host (dozens of routes). A looser rule would find more.
- Deduplicated by URL; where one host lists several routes, all count as offers and the host counts once. A copy or alias of a route with the same text and price on one site counts once: a Spanish-named alias, a versioned copy and an identical second listing were collapsed. Listed price is the first payment requirement; some endpoints may charge differently by input. Median of 69 prices is the 35th value, 0.0035.
Where Tanod fits
POST /v1/email/verify takes one email. It checks syntax (practical RFC 5322 and 5321 limits, IDNA domains), MX records, null MX (RFC 7505), the A/AAAA fallback (RFC 5321), whether an MX host resolves to a public address, a disposable-domain list, role local parts (admin, info, noreply, postmaster and so on) and free providers. It returns a verdict (deliverable_likely, undeliverable, risky or unknown) with reasons, plus the normalised address, mx_hosts and the disposable, role and free-provider flags. The check is DNS only: the mail server is never contacted, so it does not probe the mailbox over SMTP, cannot tell whether a mailbox exists and does not detect catch-all domains. It has no bulk route, and it returns a verdict with reasons, not a numeric score. It costs USD 0.002 per call, paid in USDC on Base or Polygon with x402, and 5 free verifications per IP per UTC day (header X-Tanod-Free: 1) come from a pool shared with domain inspection, RDAP and IP lookup. The MCP tool is verify_email at https://tanod.dev/mcp. Typical time is 0.1 to 1 second. Details are in the email verification guide.
When a priced listing above is the better choice
- You need to know whether the mailbox exists: a few listings above ask the mail server with an SMTP probe, which Tanod never does.
- You need to clean a list in one paid call, or want a 0 to 100 score or a typo suggestion in the answer.
- You want a lower price: 18 listings above charge less than USD 0.002, though most of them check syntax and MX only, much like a DNS-only check.
When Tanod fits
- You want a DNS-only verdict (syntax, MX, null MX, disposable, role, free provider) for one address, at USD 0.002 per call, with no account.
- You want the mail server left alone: no connection to the recipient's host, no probe that could be logged or rate limited there.
- You want a free allowance for trying it (5 per IP per UTC day, shared with three other lookups) and a verdict that lists its reasons.
