Pay-per-call tools for Amazon Bedrock AgentCore agents over x402
Updated 2026-10-12
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments, announced in preview in May 2026 and built with Coinbase and Stripe, lets an AgentCore agent pay for API calls with stablecoins over the x402 protocol. The agent is connected to a Coinbase or a Stripe Privy wallet, the end user can set session-level spending limits, and AWS makes the Coinbase x402 Bazaar MCP server available through the AgentCore gateway, so the agent can search a list of x402 endpoints and use them. The preview focuses on small payments, often under USD 1.
Tanod sells tools for agents that way: each call is priced in USD and paid in USDC through x402, with no account or API key. 222 of our 227 paid routes are listed in the Coinbase x402 Bazaar, so an AgentCore agent that searches the Bazaar for a task such as "convert a PDF to Markdown" can find and pay them.
What an AgentCore agent can buy from Tanod
A few of the routes, with the price per call (USDC; the 402 response states the exact amount):
| Route | Does | Price |
|---|---|---|
POST /v1/docs/to-markdown | Any document (PDF, Office, HTML) to Markdown | USD 0.005 |
POST /v1/pdf/merge | Merge PDFs | USD 0.005 |
POST /v1/ocr | Text from an image (OCR) | USD 0.01 |
POST /v1/render | A public web page to Markdown | USD from 0.002 |
POST /v1/search | Web search | USD 0.007 |
POST /v1/chain/candles | Crypto price candles (OHLCV) | USD 0.003 |
POST /v1/check/url | Phishing check for a URL | USD 0.001 |
The full catalog, with every route's price and request schema, is in the OpenAPI document; the per-family hosts (for example docs.tanod.dev for documents) list the same routes by family.
How the payment works
A call without payment returns HTTP 402 with a PAYMENT-REQUIRED header and the same JSON in the body: the price, the network and the address to pay. An x402 client signs a USDC authorization for that amount and repeats the call; the reply carries the result and a settlement receipt. Every paid route accepts USDC on Base, Polygon, Solana or BNB Chain. A request that fails our input checks is answered without charge.
curl -s -X POST https://tanod.dev/v1/docs/to-markdown \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/testfiles/resources/pdf/dummy.pdf"}'
# -> HTTP 402 with the price; an x402 client pays and retries
Try a route before you pay
Most routes have a small free daily allowance per IP address: send X-Tanod-Free: 1 on an unpaid call. Over MCP at https://tanod.dev/mcp the allowance is applied automatically.
What this page does not cover
- AgentCore's own setup (wallet connection, gateway configuration, regions and limits) is AWS's to document; we have not tested AgentCore ourselves. This page describes the payment side Tanod controls.
- How the Bazaar MCP server ranks search results is up to Coinbase; a listing does not guarantee that an agent picks a given route.
