Reading it

Downloads are installs, not users. Continuous-integration runs count, and packages marked core are pulled in by the others, so adding a rail's rows together would count the same install several times. Compare packages of the same kind instead: buyer clients with buyer clients, seller middleware with seller middleware. The Lightning row for @getalby/lightning-tools covers a whole Lightning toolkit, so it overstates L402.

For a seller the practical answer is to accept more than one rail on the same route. Every priced Tanod route answers an unpaid call with all three offers in one 402: x402 (USDC) in the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header, MPP (Tempo) and L402 (a Lightning invoice) in WWW-Authenticate headers. A client pays with whichever it supports.
