TinyPNG and Squoosh alternatives: compress images in your browser
Updated 2026-10-08
TinyPNG (Tinify) compresses on its servers. Squoosh is a Google Chrome Labs web app that compresses on your device. Tanod's Compress image also runs on your device, with fewer codec controls.

When to choose TinyPNG or Squoosh
- You want finer codec control than a quality slider; check Squoosh's options for what it offers.
- You want TinyPNG's service and API integrations (for example plugins), and are comfortable with the images going to their servers.
- You need AVIF or JPEG XL output, which we do not produce.
When to choose Tanod
- You have many images and want a batch with a zip download.
- The images are private and you want them to stay on your device, with no account.
- You want a simple quality slider and the size saved shown per file.
Compression quality is subjective and depends on the image. We have not run a head-to-head size benchmark, so we make no claim on which output is smaller.
